With its software-defined battery, BAVERTIS integrates an intelligent battery management system (BMS) and monitors each cell of the energy storage system individually.
THE CURRENT CHALLENGE
Conventional vehicle batteries are powered by monolithic battery packs consisting of 250 to 8,000 individual battery cells. They operate at a voltage of 400 to 800 volts. Operating such a high-voltage system requires an on-board charger to charge the battery, an inverter to run the electric motor and a battery management system (BMS) to monitor the state of charge. In this setup, little to no data is generated for battery analysis to optimize the energy storage system. Differentiation of the individual cells of such a battery cannot be avoided over the course of its service life, which, in turn, leads to a shortened service life of the energy storage device.

BAVERTIS uses a multilevel approach that has previously only been used in high-voltage applications. In this approach, arbitrary constant and dynamic voltage levels are interconnected and can thus also be used for low-voltage applications. By combining multilevel inverters with state-of-the-art battery technology and artificial intelligence, BAVERTIS provides a superior energy storage solution.

The revolutionary BAVERTIS energy storage system uses conventional battery cells which are integrated in modules with electronic power switches. These allow the modules to be connected in series or parallel as required and likewise allow bridging. Compared to conventional batteries, where the cells are connected in an unchanging configuration, this innovation creates redundancy and additional degrees of freedom. Combined with an intelligent operating strategy, any AC or DC battery output or input becomes possible. External power electronics are no longer necessary and the cells can be used according to their state of charge and aging, optimizing efficiency and battery lifetime.
